WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Maintenance Officer will oversee a technical team, manage budgets, and ensure safety compliance in maintenance operations. They will also plan and schedule maintenance activities while maintaining inventory levels for equipment and supplies. Additionally, they will enforce company procedures to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

                                                                                  THE ROLE IN BRIEF

  • Lead and manage technical team: 

Manage a team of Fitters/Line Technicians and Engineers to become autonomous

Manage a team of mechanics to manage the fleet and forklifts. 

Coach direct reports (supervisor and higher tier employees) and audit preventive maintenance schedules

  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels 

Manage contractors on projects ensuring they adhere to safety regulations and meet project deadlines

  • Manage Maintenance Budgets: 

Track maintenance costs on factory maintenance:

  1. Justification, request, implementation, reporting and tracking
  2. Ensure optimum energy and water consumption at the factory level

Use Continuous Improvement tools within the engineering function

  • Maintenance planning & scheduling: 

Manage Planned Maintenance Management routines & maintenance shutdowns

Control downtime by planning routine preventive maintenance schedules with production; and monitoring compliance.

  • Manage Planned Maintenance of trucks and forklifts

Control downtime by planning routine preventive maintenance schedules with dispatch and inventory; and monitoring compliance.

  • Maintains equipment, spare parts, and consumable supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level. 

Anticipate needed machines, spare parts, and consumables; 

Place orders with the procurement team and expedite purchases

Verify receipt of goods

Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing adherence to company procedures, rules, and regulations.

Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends from the CMMS system.

  ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum educational achievement of a university degree in an engineering field.
  • Comfortable with shift work and willing to change shifts as needed to support the team’s needs.
  • This role is based in Mlolongo, Nairobi.
  • Prior experience managing high-performing teams
