How to Keep your Sofa and Table In Good Condition

Buying new furniture, especially a sofa or a table, is pretty much like getting into a new relationship: you both love each other to the moon and back and hope that this new bond will last forever ❤. Unfortunately, you (the human) often tend to be the first to break your vows and forget to give your new partner the tender love and care they deserve.

Luckily for you, we have spent a lot of time with MoKo sofas and tables so we know a thing or two about how to take good care of them. Today, we’ll be sharing the tips you need to keep your beloved sofa and table in the best condition for as long as possible.

TLC (tender love and care) for your sofa

Mr biggie 2 seater lifestyle
  • Make time for weekly “baths” – use a dry cloth to dust your sofa. You can also vacuum it at least monthly on a low suction setting.
  • Sofas cannot swim. Please protect your seat from moist environments like a bathroom, damp basement or near water. Exposure to humidity can cause deterioration of upholstery material.
  • Avoid cleaning your sofa with bleach agents. These could wear out the fabric colour of your sofa. But hey, if you’re into faded jeans, faded sofas might be your thing too.
  • Although you have a favorite seating spot, you need to spread your love to the whole sofa. Switch your seating spots regularly to reduce the uneven wear of seat cushions and back pillows.
  • Avoid sitting on the edges of the cushions or on the arms as this can add excess pressure to the seams and cause distortion to the padding and fabric. Yes, this is why our mums smacked us for doing this back in the day.
  • Beware that sharp objects such as buckles, rings and even the claws of your pets can tear the outer surface of the seat. Good luck telling that to the pet!
  • Like babies, sofas like to be lifted. Do not tilt your sofa, push or pull on the armrests to drag it across surfaces.
  • Protect your seat from prolonged direct sunlight because it can get sunburns (aka fabric fading) and we are yet to invent sofa sunscreen.
  • Do not overburden the seat with heavy objects. Its wooden frame is allergic to that kinda stress.
  • Do not place hot objects on the seat without a heat-resistant coaster. There’s no need to burn your sofa. MoKo sofas are already the hottest sofas in town, ahem.
  • Do not jump on your sofa, bump it into the walls, or suddenly throw your weight on the backrest. You’ll traumatize the poor thing!
  • When storing the sofa, place protection between two chairs to prevent wear and tear of its oh-so-cute fabric.

TLC (tender love and care) for your table

MoKo wooden tables
  • Do not sit on your table. Utaisuffocate! Utaichoke!
  • Avoid placing items over 50kgs on the Kutana table or over 30 kgs on the TV stands. These could break the table or make it unstable (like our economy🙊).
  • When moving the tables, lift in the middle to balance the weight evenly. Place the table on the desired location gently. Do unto others what you’d like done unto you!
  • Please don’t drop it like it’s hot! Always use potholders, placemats or a tablecloth when setting hot food or beverages on your table to avoid rings and heat damage.
  • Protect your table from moist environments like a bathroom, damp basement or near water. Exposure to humidity can damage the wooden material.
  • Dust your table often. You don’t want your meals getting dirty, do you? Always use a soft cloth like an old t-shirt or microfiber to dust your table.
  • Do not use bleached based cleaners to clean your tables as this damages the table’s sexy finishing.
  • Protect the wood every once in a while by polishing it with commercial wood polishes and wood spray. Tables need some lotion in their lives too!
